The Oslon Compact SFH 4710 IRED (infrared-emitting diode) from Osram Opto Semiconductors is suitable for applications such as surveillance, digital image processing, 3-D measurement, pattern recognition and gesture detection.

The device offers typical output of 270 mW from an operating current of 500 mA. It includes a chip with an edge length of 750 µm and comes in a 1.6 × 1.2 × 0.8-mm package.

Featuring an emission angle of ±65°, the device requires no internal optics or reflectors. Its light can be injected into narrow-angle external optics to provide illumination for surveillance and machine vision tasks.
