SOMERSWORTH, N.H., Aug. 31, 2010 — Airex Corp. has announced the P3 Series plug-and-play linear motor positioning stages with design features to handle the high-duty-cycle operations required in competitive precision manufacturing environments.
The stages offer 5-m/s velocity, 10-g acceleration, microsecond settling times and 25-µm straightness of travel. The four models are rated to a 25-kg load and produce 100-µm/m linear accuracy and 125- to 1000-mm travel.
The stages provide a combination of precision and performance for a wide range of demanding applications such as automatic optical inspection, ink-jet printing, laser scribing, packaging and DNA processing. They also are suitable for use in electronic assembly and test, cutting on-the-fly, paper converting, imaging scanning, photonics, life sciences, semiconductors, high-speed automation and large-format printing.
The company says that the direct integration of the linear motor coil into the moving carriage significantly improves heat transfer to the operating environment, maximizing the usable output power while providing consistent high precision.
The stages have an ironless, brushless linear motor with zero cogging and backlash, and a trapezoidal rail provides rigidity and high multidirectional load capacity. Magnetic and optical encoder options enhance ruggedness, speed and precision.
Maximum operating temperature for all models is 125 °C.
