P532 Series Disc Magnet Step Motor

Portescap has introduced the P532 series disc magnet step motor with encoder for applications where closed-loop performance is needed.

The device’s multipolar design requires no additional iron to the rotor, giving it very low inertia (12E–7 kg m2). When the position loop is closed with the encoder, the device can accelerate very quickly and, together with a speed of up to 6000 rpm, is suitable for fast incremental motion.

The motor’s diameter is 52 mm, with a length of up to 55 mm and a rated torque of 0.2 Nm (boosted up to 0.5 Nm). This enables it to deliver acceleration up to 400 K rad/s2, suitable for applications including electronic yarn guide, medical X-Y tables and robotics, where rapid changes in rotation are required (±3000 rpm in a few milliseconds).

The RoHS-compliant step motor also is suitable for the life sciences and for textile, medical, fluid handling and industrial automation equipment.
