ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Nov. 8, 2011 — Emcore Corp. has launched its PB7200 portable frequency domain terahertz spectrometer designed for terahertz researchers and application developers who need to study the properties of materials at terahertz frequencies with high resolution. Key applications are explosives characterization and detection, and nondestructive materials inspection.

The spectrometer can sweep from 100 GHz to >2 THz in a single rapid scan with high-frequency resolution. It employs precisely tuned fiber-coupled semiconductor lasers with advanced photomixers for signal generation and detection. It features sophisticated digital control hardware and software to provide a fully turnkey, portable instrument.
The spectrometer can support single-frequency or broadband-frequency range operation in specific spectral regions of interest with varying degrees of resolution.
