NORTH LOGAN, Utah, Dec. 6, 2012 — Two pyroelectric laser energy sensors, the PE50BF-DIFH-C and the PE100BF-DIF-C, have been launched by Ophir Photonics Group. The compact devices provide low measurable energy, long measurable pulse width and high accuracy. They feature a BF coating and diffuser, delivering high damage thresholds of up to 6 J/cm2 for nanosecond pulses. They measure energy down to 200 μJ and 0.7 mJ, respectively.
The laser energy sensors are designed for high-power, short-pulse YAG laser and harmonic generation applications in industries from cosmetic surgery to fluid dynamics to cutting and welding.
The devices provide a user-adjustable threshold, preventing false readings in noisy environments. They support repetition rates up to 250 Hz and pulse widths up to 20 ms.
The PE-C line of laser energy sensors works with most Ophir smart displays and PC interfaces, including Nova II, Vega and Juno. Each display features a “smart connector” interface that automatically configures and calibrates the display when plugged into one of the company's measurement sensors.
