EdmundOptics_prisms.jpgEdmund Optics Inc. has launched its TechSpec line of UV fused silica penta prisms, the silica of which has a coefficient of thermal expansion of 0.5 μm/°C. Offering high transmission through the UV, VIS and NIR spectral ranges, they are suitable for applications where the temperature cannot be controlled. The five-sided prisms reflect light rays through a 90° angle by two reflections without inverting or reverting the image. They serve as a tool to shorten the optical path length of an instrument while maintaining the image orientation, an important feature when space is limited. A variety of coating options are available.
