A diode-pumped Nd:YV04 picosecond laser, the Staccato from Lumera Laser GmbH provides 10 W of output at 1064, pulse energy up to 300 µJ, beam quality of M2<1.5 and up to 100-kHz repetition rate of the typically 13-ps pulses. Harmonics at 532, 355 and 266 nm are optional, and residual power is available in parallel, synchronized beams. The device is equipped with an electromechanical beam shutter and an output power level attenuator. Its beam can be focused onto very small areas to reach peak power densities in the terawatts-per-square-centimeter range for micromachining of almost any material. Applications include selective drilling, cutting, structuring, stripping and surface treatment of metals, semiconductors, ceramics and glass.
