LUTON, England, Aug. 27, 2018 — PIM Over CPRI SoftwareThe PIM-over-CPRI software for the BTS Master MT8220T and MT822xB hand-held base station analyzers has been announced by Anritsu Corp., allowing passive intermodulation (PIM) measurements to be made from the ground.

PIM over CPRI is a unique and patented PIM measurement technique that uses live traffic, unlike traditional radio frequency PIM measurements that require a turned-down site for tests to be conducted. By eliminating the need for network operator installation and maintenance crews and contractors to climb the tower to test for PIM, the new BTS Master-based solution is a more cost- and time-efficient tool for ensuring optimal operation of wireless networks.

No component in the transmission line needs to be disconnected, eliminating the possibility of PIM being introduced into the system due to elements such as metal shavings or improperly torqued connectors.
