BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 19, 2013 — The PLT165-AC series linear stage from Steinmeyer Inc. is driven by an AC servomotor or optional stepper motor combined with a ball screw to provide a self-locking feature, making the stage suitable for vertical applications such as laser processing.

The stage is available in lengths from 400 to 1050 mm and travels from 100 to 750 mm. The die-cast base profile is 165 mm wide, allowing the stage to fit into smaller machine designs while offering higher precision and medium load capacity. It also offers repeatability to the micron or better, depending on the encoder used.

The device is equipped with limit switches and a rotary encoder mounted directly on the motor. The low-distortion aluminum-alloy stage body includes a high-stiffness bearing set, and a dustproof covering is available for harsher environments. An optional magnetic brake is also available as a safety feature in the event of power loss.
