Bruker Optics Inc. has introduced the Mobile-IR, a portable FTIR spectrometer. The device is insensitive to vibration, and the entire unit is housed in a rugged, weatherproof carrying case. Data results can be transmitted via USB, Ethernet or wireless interfaces. The sampling interface allows measurements of small amounts of powder, paste, liquid or pieces of unknown material. The system is based on the company’s RockSolid technology. Applications include law enforcement and hazardous materials identification.
