The FWD progressive-scan FireWire-B cameras manufactured by Audio Video Supply Inc. for machine vision applications achieve transfer rates of 800 Mb/s and are available in monochrome and color versions. Models deliver full-frame images at up to 90 fps, with resolutions ranging from 640 × 480 (VGA) to 1600 × 1200 (UXGA). Monochrome output can be set for 8- or 10-bit, and color at RGB 24-bit, YUV422 or YUV411. CCD sizes are 1/3, 1/2, 1/1.8 and 2/3 in. Features include full-frame shutter and tetragonal lattice layout of CCD pixels. The company says that the FireWire-B cameras produce less signal distortion and provide increased throughput. They are backward-compatible with conventional FireWire models.
