PV Module Junction Box

Cyntech Components has unveiled a universal junction box for silicon wafer solar photovoltaic (PV) modules that can be quickly customized to suit applications. It comes with three surface-mount bypass diodes as standard, but up to six can be installed. There is a choice of soldered or crimpled contacts, and the boxes can accommodate standard ribbon cables or non-ribbon crossing cables. This customization means that only one type of box has to be stocked to meet the requirements of a variety of applications. Sealed with a Gore-Tex membrane, the IP67-rated box measures 111 x 140 x 26.5 mm and accommodates two to eight ribbons, with a maximum diameter of 7.5 mm. The conductor cross section can measure 4 or 6 mm.
