PALAISEAU, France, Oct. 6, 2014 — Enhancing the ability of scientists to correctly identify and characterize chemical phenomena, the 1k2 Next Generation Panchromatic (NGP) IR detector from Sofradir is large-format, providing increased spectral resolution for imaging in outer space.

The device is ready to deploy with the ability to change for any spectral waveband. Due to its 1024 × 1024 15-µm pitch format HgCdTe array, the 1k2 is sensitive from visible to shortwave infrared light. Low noise, low consumption and high linearity is experienced on a CTIA read-out integrated circuit.

Applications include imaging spectrometers and other observation instruments for use in space.
