BOULDER, Colo., Aug. 10, 2011 — REO offers pentaprisms with coatings optimized for demanding laser applications such as target designation and rangefinding.
The pentaprisms' all-dielectric antireflection and high-reflection coatings are manufactured using ion beam sputtering technology, which delivers fully densified films that exhibit good laser damage characteristics (>12 J/cm² in 20-ns pulses at 1064 nm for the antireflection coatings), as well as high environmental stability and mechanical durability.
They are suitable for applications in harsh environments, such as exposure to salt spray. Ion beam sputtering enables consistent production of optical coatings with complex spectral characteristics, including multispectral operation, where high performance is required at several widely spaced wavelengths or wavelength bands; e.g., 1064 and 1573 nm.
The pentaprisms can be fabricated from a variety of materials suitable for the visible and near-infrared spectral ranges, including fused silica, optical glasses, silicon, germanium, zinc/selenium and zinc/sulfur.
Typical entrance face size ranges from 12 to 25 mm. The optics also feature low total wavefront distortion on transmission (<λ/4 at 633 nm), laser-grade surface quality of 10-5 scratch-dig and high deviation accuracy of ≤30 arcsec.
