Available from nLight Corp. are highly doped photodarkening-resistant ytterbium fibers with up to 60 percent higher absorption at 920 nm and pump conversion efficiencies of higher than 75 percent.  nLight_Photodarkening.jpg

The fibers are available in core/clad geometries ranging from 7/125 µm to 30/250 µm in nonpolarization and polarization maintaining versions. Available with double-cladding, the Liekki Yb2000-7/125 fibers are suitable for low-power amplifier and continuous-wave laser applications, and their flat absorption profile enables the use of 940-nm pumps.

Cladding absorption at 920 nm is 1.0 ±0.2 dB/m, with a numerical aperture of less than 0.46. Core numerical aperture is 0.19 ±0.02, and core centricity error is less than 1.5 µm. The cladding geometry is octagonal, and the coating material is low-index acrylate. Coating diameter is 245 ±15 µm.
