RONKONKOMA, N.Y., June 23, 2023 — Alfa Chemistry’s photosensitizer line includes porphyrins, ketone, acridine, ruthenium, iridium photosensitizers, naphthoquinone, and other types for solar cells, catalysis, biomedicine, and photodynamic therapy.

The materials are compounds that absorb specific wavelengths of ultraviolet light, generating radicals or ions and initiating photochemical reactions. With their unique light sensitivity, they are widely used in radiation curing systems such as photosensitive adhesives and photoresists. In solar cells, dye-sensitized solar cells based on bacterial-based photosensitizers have been studied for their enhanced efficiency in converting photons to electrons. Organic photocatalysis utilizes photosensitizers to generate radicals or ions for organic reactions. Photodynamic therapy employs photosensitizers to selectively target and treat cancer cells.
