VICTOR, N.Y., April 14, 2021 — Piezoelectric Micro StageThe M3-LS-U2-10 Linear Smart Stage from New Scale Technologies is a direct-drive precision piezoelectric micro stage with an embedded controller, designed for integration into compact instruments. It has a moving mass of 40 g for a horizontal load, and 20 g for a vertical load, 10 mm of travel, a speed of 35 mm/s, a force of 0.2 N, and up to 500 nm resolution with absolute encoding. The device does not need to be homed on powerup. The stage’s dimensions, including the controller, are 32 x 32 x 10 mm. It has a high stiffness with no gears or backlash, low acoustic noise, and no high voltage. It can be powered by batteries or any low-cost DC supply. Applications include handheld imaging systems, wearable medical devices, handheld video microscopes, portable spectroscopy systems, beam-steering, and more.
