WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada, Aug. 31, 2012 — Suitable for high-throughput machine vision inspection applications, Teledyne Dalsa Inc.’s Piranha4 8k color CMOS line-scan camera delivers 8k resolution and has a 7 × 7-µm pixel size.
The Piranha4 series combines advancements in proprietary CMOS image sensor technology with a good signal-to-noise ratio for high-speed inspection. The color version is suitable for automatic optical inspection of flat panel displays, electronics, printed material, solar cells, film and for large-format web inspection.
With line rates up to 50 kHz at full resolution, the color camera inspects with precision, speed and responsivity. The sensor design minimizes spectral and spatial crosstalk.
The camera is based on proprietary CMOS bilinear line-scan technology with on-chip correlated double sampling and an on-chip analog-to-digital converter. It offers low read noise and high full well capacity, resulting in a better dynamic range. Programmability features include exposure control, gain setting, flat field correction, white balance and color correction. Algorithms allow defocusing in flat field correction and white balancing without adjusting the optical lens. A GenICam-compliant interface makes the camera easy to set up, control and integrate.
The Piranha4 line-scan series includes 1k, 2k, 4k, and 8k resolutions with various pixel sizes.
