VAN NUYS, Calif., Aug. 5, 2019 — Pitch and Roll StagesPitch-And-Roll Stages from Optimal Engineering Systems Inc. allow users to measure pitch and roll, micro-machine, align mirrors for scanning electron microscopes, and more.

Objects can be rotated to precise positions, and their angles can be measured. They can also be moved to a precise angular position along an arc. The stages examine cutting edges of medical instruments and estimate measurements of radiation patterns of LEDs. They meet the requirements of specific application requirements. Typical accuracies for each stage are a repeatability of ±4 min, a positional accuracy of ±8 min, and a backlash of ±3 min.

The stages are available with either stepper motors with knobs for manual adjustment or quadrature optical encoders on stepper motors for position verification. They are also available with servo motors for closed loop operation and higher operating speed. The Pitch-and-Roll Stages can be supplied plug-and-play with a motion controller. Applications include inspection, testing, or manufacturing.
