Hamamatsu Corp. has unveiled an imaging-based plate reader, the FDSSμCELL, designed for drug discovery instrumentation, and compound screening and kinetic cell-based assay development applications, including ion channel and G-protein-coupled receptor research in the pharmaceutical, clinical research organization and biotech industries. The device is optimized for fluorescent kinetic assays using calcium and membrane potential dyes such as Fluo 4 and fluoroamphetamine. Dispensing is available in either a 96- or 384-well format with easily exchangeable heads. Software enables users to quickly set assay parameters in a single protocol, which can later be transferred to an FDSS7000 for further screening.
