SOUTHAMPTON, England, Oct. 19, 2018 — Fibercore Ltd. has announced two enhanced-performance polarization-maintaining fibers developed specifically for next-generation fiber optic gyroscopes (FOGs).

The 155- and 135- μm product variants of HB1500G-SB have been redesigned from the glass outward, specifically to address the challenges of coil stress, microbending, and increased form factor. The fibers were developed through a dedicated development program to improve the coating packages and glass design through the use of advanced simulation tools and empirical testing at the FOG coil level.
