Polarization Extension for LSMs
PicoQuant GmbHRequest Info
PicoQuant GmbH has released a polarization extension for its upgrade kit for confocal laser scanning microscopes (LSMs). Previously, commercially available upgraded LSMs could perform time-resolved fluorescence measurements, but with the new extension, upgraded microscopes can perform polarization measurements also.
The polarization extension for the LSM upgrade kit permits access to single-molecule dynamics such as fluorescence anisotropy and polarization-resolved fluorescence correlation spectroscopy. Applications include the study of membrane dynamics, molecular rotation and orientation, molecule aggregation and cluster formation.
Static anisotropy can be calculated via the newest release of the proprietary fluorescence lifetime imaging and correlation software SymPhoTime.
The polarization extension is directly mounted to the scan head of the confocal microscope. It splits the fluorescence according to its polarization and guides the light to two single-photon-sensitive detectors via two optical fibers. The insertion of the polarization-sensitive beamsplitter is reversible, and switching between polarization and spectral light separation is easy.
The extension is adaptable to the following microscopes: Olympus FluoView FV300 and FV1000; and Zeiss LSM 510, 710 and 780.
Wavelength range is from 450 to 700 nm.
