The PL-D755MU-POL polarization machine vision camera from Pixelink is built around the Sony IMX250MZR Pregius global shutter CMOS sensor.

The 5.1-MP camera takes advantage of on-chip polarizing filters enabling greater fault detection on reflective surfaces such as metal, plastic, and glass, which was previously undiscernible with standard sensors. Pixelink’s PL-D755MU-POL polarization camera is a 2/3-in. format monochrome model with 3.45-µm pixel resolution.

With a pixel-level quad polarization filter feature, the camera is designed so that each individual pixel has its own polarizing array angled at 90°, 45°, 135°, or 0°. This cluster of four pixels are arranged in repeating 2- × 2-pixel blocks, and the four-pixel block allows for on-camera calculation of both the direction and degree of polarization.
