The IMX264MZR monochrome and IMX264MYR color on-chip polarizer sensors from Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corp. are 5-MP devices with a 2/3-type format and pixel size of 3.45 µm.
The CMOS Pregius sensors reach frame rates up to 35.7 fps at 12-bit, with one region-of-interest window. They are equipped with a four-directional polarization square pixel array that can filter light from all four directions in a single capture. A high extinction ratio helps remove glare by removing reflection.
Polarization sensors can be used to remove reflection in intelligence transportation system applications which can use polarization to distinguish direct light from reflection and achieve better shape recognition of low contrast objects without the need for external polarization filters.
