OTTAWA, Ontario, May 3, 2021 — Positioning SystemThe U Series Ultra Resolution Positioning System from Luminos is designed for photonics-grade nanopositioning applications.

The system integrates a precise linear stepping motor actuator to provide a verified, stable, open-loop, single-layer system, permitting alignment of even the smallest mode field diameter waveguide. With 0.1-μm bidirectional backlash and incremental move capability finer than 10 nm, all without the need for piezoelectric sensors, the positioners exceed SMF-28 waveguide alignment requirements, allowing for optimization within 0.01 dB without backlash compensation.
