IRVINE, Calif., April 2, 2013 — Newport Corp. has released the precision-grade (PG) series of optical breadboards with patented constrained layer modal damping to minimize torsional and bending modes for critical laboratory and ultrafast applications.

The device incorporates a 3/16-in. steel triple-core interface honeycomb design for a lighter, stiffer platform with improved dynamic rigidity. It also includes sealed mounting holes for easy spill cleanup or for small-object retrieval. Imperial standard models feature 1/4-20 tapped holes on a 1-in. grid, and metric models feature M6 tapped holes on a 25-mm grid.

The series is available in sizes ranging from 1 x 1 ft up to 3 x 6 ft, and in 2- and 4-in. thicknesses, both of which offer surface flatness of <±0.004 in. over 2 sq ft. Metric or imperial versions can be specified, and custom sizes and shapes are available.
