HAMAMATSU CITY, Japan, Sept. 6, 2021 — Profile SensorThe S15366-256 profile sensor from Hamamatsu Photonics features embedded computing function for position sensing.

The sensor is designed to calculate signals from the incident light spot within its processing chip and output incident light position information. As the device can output the incident light positions as coordinate data, it needs no external controller for computing processing. The design and manufacture surveying equipment can happen with a reduced size, weight, and cost. This profile sensor also has functions including high-speed readout and automatic light spot tracking that are likely to open up a wide range of applications in the field of factory automation.
