MALVERN, England, Sept. 17, 2012 — Malvern Instruments Ltd. has launched the Zetasizer Nano ZSP for measurement of zeta potential, or electrophoretic mobility of proteins. The dynamic-light-scattering system is a single compact unit that includes protein mobility measurement software.
The new version of Zetasizer software also enables a new type of measurement – microrheology, a dynamic light-scattering-based optical technique that allows rheological characterization of weakly structured and highly strain-sensitive materials using only microliter sample volumes. Applications include measuring the viscosity of polymer and protein solutions, and determining the onset of protein aggregation.
The company’s products now include the full Zetasizer Nano range of systems for characterizing size, molecular weight and zeta potential measurement. The Zetasizer APS is for automated protein size measurements in multiwell plates, and the Zetasizer µV is for protein size and molecular weight measurements in both cuvette and chromatography modes.
