Pulsed-Laser Photoacoustics System
Quantum Northwest Inc.Request Info
New instrumentation and software from Quantum Northwest Inc. help users create a turn-key, pulsed-laser photoacoustics system.
The PAS 1010 includes two integrated energy probes and an energy meter, as well as updated temperature control hardware and software.
Used with a separate laser system, the instrumentation and software enable study of the photophysics of dyes and nanoparticles; visual pigments, channel rhodopsins and photo-switchable proteins; and very rapid solvation changes of ionic species in aqueous solution. Specific photoinduced events the PAS 1010 can measure include bond cleavage, molecular volume changes, solvation changes, electrostriction and heat deposition.
Pulsed-laser photoacoustics measures the rapid volumetric changes that occur in solution upon the absorbance of a brief flash of laser light. The volume changes create an acoustic wave that is detected using an ultrasonic transducer. The resulting waveform is analyzed for the magnitude of its volume changes, as well as kinetics.
