SOUTHAMPTON, England, April 25, 2013 — SPI Lasers has released the EP series, pulsed fiber lasers designed for industrial marking and micromachining applications.
The 20-W series features 40 optimized pulse waveforms in the 3- to 500-ns range and enhanced pulse energy and peak power performance. The lasers are available in three beam qualities, from single to low mode ~2 M2, enabling performance to be matched to specific applications.
For users requiring faster processing, the company offers a single-mode 50-W model with M2 ~1.3, 0.7 mJ maximum pulse energy and >9 kW peak power, targeted at microcutting, scribing, deep engraving and micromachining. The 70-W model offers M2 ~3.0, 1.25-mJ maximum pulse energy and >20-kW peak power for applications including paint removal, general marking, deep engraving, and dark marking on stainless steel.
The 20- and 70-W RM-Z series fiber lasers produce 1-mJ pulse energy and >12-kW peak power and offer beam quality of ~1.6 M2 and an operating frequency range of 1 to 200 kHz. The 20-W RM-Z is suited to a range of metallic and plastic marking applications, while the 70-W RM-Z is suitable for general and high-speed marking, microcutting and deep engraving.
