SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 13, 2013 — Spectra-Physics, a Newport Corp. brand, has introduced the Quasar hybrid fiber laser, which delivers high ultraviolet power at high repetition rates and features TimeShift technology for high-throughput, precise micromachining.
Combining a fiber laser, an amplifier and patented harmonics technologies, the system produces >40 W of ultraviolet power at high repetition rates. TimeShift technology provides programmable pulse profiles to deliver process flexibility and control. Robust for demanding 24/7 long-term operation, Quasar enables high-speed manufacturing in glass cutting, printed circuit board drilling and cutting, silicon wafer dicing and ceramics scribing.
It is used in microelectronic device manufacturing.
It is available with green output of >70 W. TimeShift technology optimizes the micromachining process with the ability to vary pulse width from <10 to >100 ns at constant repetition rates. Conversely, it maintains a constant pulse width with varying repetition rates from <1 to 500 kHz. The technology allows for pulse shaping and burst-mode operation for accelerating throughput while improving quality. Beam quality is M2 <1.3. The low-noise laser is designed, built and tested to stringent quality standards for continuous operation in demanding manufacturing environments.
