Lumex has launched the through-hole QuasarBrite four-leaded RGB LED with a 120° viewing angle. It is suited for applications that require high-intensity light in spatially restricted spaces. Its enhanced thermal design lead frame provides good heat dissipation, moisture resistance and a long lifetime. The off-the-board design also provides enhanced convection, with air freely passing on all sides of the epoxy for more efficient cooling. Applications include high-output airport, retail and hospitality signage; industrial controls; portable medical devices; and decorative and indicator lighting in gaming machines. The RoHS- compliant LED contains three individual dies in red (635 nm), green (520 nm) and blue (470 nm) in a compact 5-mm package. Typical intensity is 20 lm.
