Craic Technologies Inc. has developed the Apollo, a Raman microspectrometer that can be used in a stand-alone configuration or added to one of the company’s UV-visible-NIR microspectrophotometers or optical microscopes to enhance their capabilities for Raman microspectroscopy. When added to a unit such as the 20/20 PV microspectrophotometer, it performs molecular spectroscopy on the micron scale. Besides UV-visible-NIR absorbance, reflectance, fluorescence and polarization spectra, the Raman spectra of the same sample at the same location also can be measured. A single instrument can measure the vibrational and electronic spectra without any further sample preparation and without the user having to move to another instrument. The microspectrometer provides an excitation source, an optical interface to the microscope, a Raman spectrometer and software.
