BaySpec Inc. has unveiled the NIR long-wave RamSpec series for
Raman instrumentation of biological tissues, including skin, with minimal fluorescence
interference. The instrument, which operates at wavelengths from 1064 to 1720 nm,
employs a proprietary Volume Phase Grating as the spectral dispersion element and
an InGaAs array detector for high-speed parallel processing and continuous spectrum
measurement. For input it uses a fiber optic bundle or slit optics arrangement based
on the customer’s preference. Applications include Fourier transform Raman
replacement, in vivo or in vitro medical research, forensics, drug screening and
pharmaceuticals.
