HeadwallPhotonics.jpgHeadwall Photonics Inc. has introduced the Raman Explorer 532, a spectrometer built to withstand harsh environments. It offers a 532-nm excitation laser, f/2.4 optics that provide a high signal-to-noise ratio, a high-efficiency aberration-corrected convex holographic grating and a retroreflective concentric design that permits high reciprocal dispersion. The instrument has no moving parts, a design that allows for thermal expansion and a small 7 × 7 × 10-in. footprint. It weighs only 12 lb. The multichannel, multispectrum device enables measurement of multiple spectra on a single plane. It features an extended fingerprint range of 4000 wave numbers and a resolution of less than four wave numbers. It provides on-chip binning to decrease acquisition times and can be connected through interfaces such as USB, Camera Link or Ethernet.
