MUNICH, Feb. 7, 2013 — The FPS3010 from attocube systems AG is an ultrahigh-sensitivity, high-bandwidth, three-channel interferometric displacement sensor that enables simultaneous detection of position variations of up to three targets with picometer resolution of 10−12 m at distances of up to 40 cm. It can track target velocities of up to 1 m/s with no degradation of resolution or accuracy.
It is an all-fiber-based sensor with a head measuring in the millimeter range. It can be used in ultrahigh-vacuum, cryogenic and space environments and in applications with high spatial, dimensional and geometrical constraints.
With its high level of automation and its easy-to-use software, it is plug-and-play-compatible and does not require time-consuming alignment procedures to get started. In addition to providing data transmission and storage on a personal computer through its USB interface, the sensor outputs virtually latency-free incremental and serial word position information at a 10-MHz bandwidth through its real-time interfaces. An optional Ethernet interface with TCP/IP and EPICS driver sets makes it compatible with many local area network-bound applications.
