SphereOptics GmbH has announced the new Permaflect reflectance target coating, unifying the positive properties of optical polytetrafluoroethylene with the highly cost-efficient and easy-to-use properties of barium sulfate.

Permaflect can be used under harsh environmental conditions, being exposed to water, UV radiation and dust while still maintaining its excellent optical characteristic with a nearly lambertian reflection over 94 percent, uniform and constant reflection over the surface area as well as over the wavelength range of 350 to 1150 nm.

The coating can also be applied to complex shaped surfaces.
