Request InfoOptical Surfaces Ltd.Optical Surfaces Ltd. has announced precision etalon plates for use in Fabry-Perot interferometers. Etalons are available in air-spaced or solid forms. Designed for use at customer-defined wavelengths within the range of 190 nm to about 2 μm, the etalons are supplied with wedge angles of 5 minutes of arc for smaller diameters, rising in steps to a wedge angle of 40 minutes of arc for diameters greater than 70 mm. The plates are available as standard with UV-grade silica and germanium.See full productRelated content from Photonics MediaPRODUCTSPhotonics Spectra July 2023 IssueMirror MountsWedged back paraboloid mounts from Optical Surfaces Ltd. provide a secure and stable platform for mirror diameters from 50 to 200 mm. This demand for bandwidth has led to the development of new test and measurement...Photonics HandbookFluorescence Lifetime Imaging: Choosing the Best Approach: Fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), which measures the spatial distribution of the fluorescence decay, can be achieved either in the time or in the frequency domain. Each approach exhibits advantages and disadvantages, depending on the type of light detector and acquisition method employed. The term fluorescence is often applied as a synonym for photoluminescence, although luminescence actually covers fluorescence and phosphorescence. Both of these terms describe the process of...Photonics HandbookIndustrial Lasers: An Introduction to Process Qualification: The step from successfully demonstrating a new laser process on a limited number of samples under laboratory conditions, to scaling that process up for high-volume industrial use is a big one. In particular, it’s necessary to determine how variations in process parameters affect end results, so that acceptable process input and operating ranges can be determined.Materials processing with lasers is actually a broad term for a diverse range of applications. The major categories of these uses, and the lasers that service them, are summarized Table 1. At one...Photonics HandbookLaser Safety: Important Considerations: Laser safety is nothing to scoff at; lasers can be hazardous. Enter Class 1 laser products — lasers that are so safe that the user doesn’t require specific laser safety training or protective eyewear.
