DORTMUND, Germany, May 30, 2012 — Single-emitter diode lasers with spectral widths from 420 to 470 nm that output up to 2 W are becoming popular in lithography, in structuring of flat panel displays and in measuring technology such as particle analysis. The blue semiconductor laser emitters’ Blu-Ray disk’s light sources work with a very low output and actually emit violet light at 405 nm. LIMO Lissotschenko Mikrooptik GmbH has developed micro-optics for true blue single-emitter diode lasers. The technology focuses the beam with precision on an area measuring ~40 × 40 µm.
