The VCSEL arrays enable low power dissipation, high slope efficiencies, and high optical peak powers compared with existing devices. Optical powers exceeding 2 W per individual VCSEL emitter have resulted in >800 W of peak power from a compact, 1-mm2 VCSEL array.
