Pulse energies of more than 500 µJ and pulse widths as small as 12 ns open new opportunities in applications such as glass cutting for smartphone and tablet displays. Ceramics and carbon fiber compounds also can be processed with the device, in quality levels that previously have been achieved only by picosecond lasers.
