The AQ728E measures at 1625 nm over live fibers and includes a filter to eliminate shorter wavelengths used for data transmission which could disturb OTDR testing. The AQ7283J module is for “water-peak” testing of optical fibers at 1383 nm, a wavelength absorbed by water ions contained in optical fibers as a result of the manufacturing process.
