Air Squared Inc. has unveiled a high-vacuum, two-stage rotary scroll pump designed for integration into lasers, biomedical equipment, leak detectors and other devices requiring clean, quiet operation. The pump produces vacuum to 10 mt, and oil-free mechanics render it suitable for cleanrooms. It measures 3.6 x 3.7 x 4.4 in., requires 20 W of shaft power and uses either an AC or DC motor with speeds of 2500 rpm. The company says that the device, with one moving part, is smooth, reliable and durable and that its rotary motion enables dynamic balancing, eliminating vibration.
