IVER, England, June 2, 2021 — SDI AdapterThe BlueBird SDI Adapter from Active Silicon Ltd. is designed for format conversion of 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and HD-VLC video streams.

It operates as a USB/HDMI/SDI converter and external frame grabber for video streaming and video capture. The video input signal is supplied via the BNC or Ethernet connectors. A remote camera connected by RS-485 may be controlled via the USB connection. The RJ45 connector enables RS-485 camera control signals, camera power supply, and HD-VLC compressed video input. The built-in test pattern generator, auto-sensing of active input, and compliance with SMPTE 274M and SMPTE 296M make for simple integration into existing vision systems.

The device is ideal for simultaneous, low-latency video interface conversion; long-reach video cable applications where video needs to be stored/viewed in real time at the end of the SDI cable; and applications requiring SDI video transfer over low cost-twisted pair cables. The adapter is offered as a standalone board or housed in a rugged enclosure for harsher environments.
