Hamamatsu Corp. has introduced silicon photodiodes that cover the 190- to 1100-nm spectral response range for spectrophotometry and optical measurement applications. The S8745 and S8746 have active areas of 2.4 x 2.4 mm and 5.8 x 5.8 mm, respectively. They can measure low-level signals and feature FET input operational amplifiers with low power dissipation. Specifications include feedback resistance of 1 G(omega), feedback capacitance of 5 pF and sensitivity of -0.12 to -0.52 V/nW, which peaks at 960 nm.
