Inno-Spec GmbH has introduced the MS-MIC series of spectrometer modules based on transmission spectrographs. The devices use planar diffraction gratings on a highly transmissive antireflection-coated substrate -- typically Pyrex -- in combination with a prism. The prism in front of the grating ensures that the first-order diffracted light is aligned in the optical axis of the microspectrograph. The company says the device features high second-order suppression and low wavelength drift. A choice of prisms and detectors allows coverage of wavelength ranges from the UV/VIS to the VIS/NIR.
