The IMX990 SWIR image sensor from Sony Corp. is capable of capturing images in the visible and invisible light spectrum with a compact size and 5-μm pixels.

SenSWIR technology provide photodiodes on an InGaAs compound semiconductor layer and are connected via Cu-Cu connection with a silicon layer forming the readout circuit — a design which enables high-sensitivity over a broad range of wavelengths. The IMX990 sensor is a 1/2-type, 8.2 mm diagonal, 1.34-MP device in a ceramic LGA package and ceramic PGA package with a built-in thermoelectric cooling device.
