MIDDLEFIELD, Conn., Aug. 10, 2023 — A salt fog silver coating from Zygo Corporation is designed to be applied to silver reflector optics used either in harsh marine salt spray environments or for optics exposed to extreme temperatures from -620 °C to +800 °C. High reflectivity from visible through to infrared wavelengths ensures that optics are better able to resist corrosion and mechanically induced damage. The coating has shown no degradation when exposed to 95% - 100% at 120 °F over 24 and 240 hours and passed both the moderate abrasion and lifetime operational durability tests.
