Sapphire Optical DomesSapphire Optical Domes and 360 Degree Windows from Meller Optics Inc. protect missile guidance systems and other vision systems from harsh environments for panoramic image masts.

The domes and windows exhibit 99% transmission from the UV to IR when anti-reflection coated on both sides and up to 85% transmission uncoated. They feature Mohs 9 hardness, are resistant to fast moving dirt, sand, and saltwater, and can withstand 10,000 psi and 1,000 °C. Custom fabricated in sizes up to 6-in. optical density, Meller Sapphire Optical Domes provide 160° maximum included angles to extend the viewing angle of missile guidance systems. They can be made in sizes up to 12-in. optical density with varying wall thicknesses, depending upon the outside diameter.
