The ScanReference photogrammetry system from Aicon 3D Systems GmbH was designed for measuring large objects with handheld scanners made by the Artec Group.

Developed for white-light, blue-light and LED scanners, the system matches scans from a handheld or firmly mounted scanner. Its method involves using targets on the object to signal reference points. Next, a digital camera takes pictures from various directions, which are used to create a point cloud as a reference system. The network is transferred into Artec’s proprietary software Studio, and single surface scans from Artec scanners are matched into the reference system.
